Capture is not supported currently at all.<\/p>\n<p>I FIXED IT!<\/p>\n<p>You need two things:<\/p>\n<p>1) Firmware update from Avid <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/akmedia.digidesign.com\/support\/compressed\/MboxFirmware22_33860.dmg\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, also mirrored on my site <a href=\"\/mbox2\/MboxFirmware22_33860.dmg\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You need access to a Mac computer to flash the updated firmware to the device to fix the problem with the sporadic white noise.<\/p>\n<p>Run this command in linux with the device plugged in to check your current firmware version:<br \/>\n<code>sudo lsusb -vv -d 0dba:1000 |grep bcdDevice |awk '{print $2}'<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Anything less than 0.22 and you will need the updated firmware above.<\/p>\n<p>2) My driver code (kernel lower than 3.5)<\/p>\n<p>Make sure you have kernel headers installed and a working C compiler.<br \/>\nYou can download my working driver here:<\/p>\n<p><code>git clone http:\/\/www.github.com\/zamaudio\/alsa-driver.git<br \/>\ncd alsa-driver\/alsa<br \/>\ngit checkout mbox1clean<br \/>\n.\/gitcompile<br \/>\nsudo make install<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Reboot and enjoy!<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, if you want to run a newish 3.14 kernel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zamaudio.com\/mbox2\/mbox1-3.14.tar.gz\">grab this tarball<\/a> instead.<\/p>\n<p><code>tar zxvf mbox1-3.14.tar.gz<br \/>\ncd mbox1-3.14<br \/>\nmake<br \/>\nsudo make install<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Reboot and enjoy!<\/p>\n<p>NOTE: Kernels 3.5 &#8211; 3.13 are NOT supported.<br \/>\nThere was some bug that caused a bucketload of xruns.<\/p>\n<p>As of Linux Kernel 3.19, these changes are merged into the kernel already.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A few people have asked me since I made the MBox2 driver whether the original Mbox (with Focusrite preamps) could be made to work with Linux.
